A number of effective radioprotective drugs were studied for their ability to induce a change in the number of micronuclei in the bone marrow of irradiated mice. Parallelism apparently exists between the effectiveness of radioprotectors and the relative number of micronuclei in the bone marrow of irradiated mice. The change in the number of micronuclei in the bone marrow of irradiated mice apparently can be used as a criterion for screening the radioprotective drugs.
