A retrospective chart analysis, which was conducted on the 985 patients who were delivered at Yokohama Aiji Center Hospital [Japan] from Jan. 1, 1980 to Dec. 31, 1980, is presented. Of the 985 deliveries, 90% were normal vertex deliveries, while 4.9% and 2.9% were noted breech presentations and cesarean sections, respectively. Vacuum extractions and/or forceps deliveries were performed in 9.7% of all deliveries under judicious medical and obstetrical indications. Cephalo-pelvic disproportion (CPD) and arrest of labor were main indications for cesarean section. The excellent perinatal mortality rates (7.1 in correct value) were obtained in this report.
