A study on alterations in genetic constitution of bulgarian simmental cattle on crossing with holstein friesian bulls with the help of stable genetic markers

A study was conducted on 96 Bulgarian Simmental cows, 89 purebred Holstein-Friesian cows and 423 F1 crosses (BS .times. HF). Estimated were the allele frequencies controlling the blood proteins albumin, transferrin, posttransferrin (Pt2), ceruloplasmin, hemoglobin and the enzymes amylase, alkaline phosphatase, carbonic anhydrase, nucleoside-phosphorilase and catalase. It was established that the differences in allele frequencies of the loci NP, Akp, Am and Tf were considerable and significant. On basis of gene frequencies were determined the genetic distances between the separate populations and was found that the two purebred populations were considerably distanced from one another. The Holstein-Friesian breed was characterized by a marked homogeneity whereas the population of the Bulgarian Simmental cattle and the crosses of F1 generation were highly heterozygous and with a greater realized genetic diversity.
