Abscisic acid in root cultures of phaseolus coccineus cultivar weisser riese

Abscisic acid in root cultures of phaseolus coccineus cultivar weisser riese

Zeitschrift fuer Pflanzenphysiologie 97(3): 265-270

Root tip tissue from P. coccineus grown under aseptic conditions contain abscisic acid. The tissue never contracted the aereal parts of the plant. The ABA content in the root cultures was comparable to that of the root system of the intact plants cultured in soil (125 ng/g fresh wt.). The root system of runner beans is a site of ABA synthesis, and the ABA in the roots of intact plants is not necessarily imported from the leaves.
