Activity of the thermostable beta exotoxin of bacillus thuringiensis berliner on tetranychus urticae and tetranychus cinnabarinus

Contact activity of thuringiensin, the thermostable .beta.-exotoxin of Bacillus thuringiensis, was highly effective at 0.18% AI on day two post-spray against forms of Tetranychus urticae and T. cinnabarinus, and 2 lower log dilution treatments were highly effective by day 6. In tests with T. urticae, thuringiensin did not demonstrate systematic or translaminar activity. A high degree of residual activity was demonstrated for 14 days against females of both mice species. Dicofol was similarly effective for 10 days with a significant decrease in activity observed on day 12 and 14. Contact and residual activity was very high at 0.18% AI against eggs of the twospotted spider mite. Egg hatch was also significantly reduced by dienochlor and dicofol.
