New acyclic sesquiterpene oligoglycosides named mukuroziosides 1a, Ib, IIa and IIb were isolated from the pericarp of Sapindus mukurossi and their structures were elucidated. These oligoglycosides showed a potent solubilizing effect on the co-occurring saponins (monodesmosides), which are sparingly soluble in water in the pure state.
