Age related composition of tormentil potentilla erecta ceno populations in drying sphagnum swamps
P. erecta (L.) Raeusch cenopopulations were studied in various stages of the succession and ecological series (drying sphagnous swamp, dried sphagnous swamp and birch grove on a dry sphagnous swamp) in Voronezh Oblast, Russian SFSR, USSR. The cenopopulations studied are normal cenopopulations of various ages (young, mature and aging). The mature population is formed in the moisture regimen corresponding to that of damp meadows and characterized by the highest viability indices. Apparently, the phenotypical conditions of this succession stage are phenotypically optimal. During the formation of a tree canopy, which has a negative effect on young individuals in birch-moor grass-motley grass association, a P. erecta population was determined as aging.
