Abstract
Detailed mapping and biostratigraphic analysis show that the Liguridi allochtonous (melangelike terrains) have been emplaced in Val Sellustra area in the Early Pliocene (G. puncticulata zone). The emplacement is in connection with a major tectonic event widespread all over the Pedeapenninic Margin. This event is marked by a number of allochthon units (similar to that of the Val Sellustra) and coarse-grained sedimentation.
