An improved anther culture method for obtaining higher frequency of pollen embryoids in triticum aestivum l

An improved anther culture method for obtaining higher frequency of pollen embryoids in triticum aestivum l

Plant Science 55(2): 175-182

The induction frequency and development of pollen embryoids of wheat (T. aestivum) were improved using a modified, filter-sterilized, liquid N6 medium (MN6 medium). The improved medium, in addition to the ingredients of the basic MN6 medium, contained 2 mg/l 2,4 dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), 1 mg/l naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA), 9% (w/v) sucrose and amino acid supplements. Procedures for improving plant regeneration and transplantation are discussed.
