An inoculation technique for Stewart's wilt disease [caused by Erwinia stewartii] on dent corn was evaluated. The technique has several advantages: inoculation is rapid, disease evaluation can be made before anthesis, and plants that appear to be disease escapes can be separated from plants with inherited resistance. The technique was used succesfully in identifying genotypes with resistance to this disease.
