An analysis of subfossil Bosmina, chydorids, chironomids and Chaoborus flavicans in core samples from the eutrophic Grosser Segeberger See was conducted. The species composition in the late glacial period reflects the climatic conditions of that time. Throughout the postglacial times the lake was a Chironomus-Chaoborus-lake. During this phase a succession of Bosmina, from B. coregoni kessleri to B. c. coregoni, was observed. Simultaneously, the clear water forms among the chydorids were replaced by polluted water species. [Chironomus plumosus, C. anthracinus and B. longispina were discussed.].
