Ascarophis minuta new species nematoda cystidicolidae from a scorpaenid fish sebasticus marmoratus in hong kong southern china

Tropical Biomedicine 2(2): 99-106

The generic diagnosis of Ascarophis is emended. A. minuta n. sp. is described from the stomach and intestine of a scorpaenid fish caught in Hong Kong. This species most resembles Ascarophis sp. Parukhin, 1967 which was reported from the South China Sea but can be distinguished from the latter by having a shorter muscular oesophagus and tail as well as the presence of a knob-like structure at the posterior extremity of females.
