Autofluorescence of bovine eosinophils a means of purification using cytofluorometry

Autofluorescence of bovine eosinophils a means of purification using cytofluorometry

Annales de Medecine Veterinaire 131(2): 105-111

Just as their human counterpart, bovine eosinophils express a significant autofluorescence; this is not the case for the polymorphonuclear neutrophils. This characteristic allowed the separation of the autofluorescent cells from the non-fluorescent ones by means of a Fluorescence Activated Cell Shorter (F.A.C.S.); the purity grade of each of the sorted cell population is nearing 100%. This accurate method of neutrophils and eosinophils separation in cattle should allow unequivocal in vitro studies on their respective functions and properties.
