The titled compounds were synthesized and tested for their auxin-like and phytotoxic activities [using Pisum sativum, Sorghum vulgare, Hordeum hexasticum, Linum usitatissimum, Cucumis sativus]. None of the tested compounds showed auxin-like properties to a considerable degree and did not exert herbicidal activity against the utilized representative plants. The chlorine in the position 5 of 2,1-benzisothiazol nucleus in this category of compounds decreased the phytotoxicity.
