Biosynthesis of poly phosphatases of escherichia coli under the control of the same regulator genes as alkaline phosphatase

Biosynthesis of poly phosphatases of escherichia coli under the control of the same regulator genes as alkaline phosphatase

Doklady Akademii Nauk SSSR Seriya Biologiya 224(3): 710-712

It was previously shown that 2 phosphohydrolases of Escherichia coli, polyphosphatase and tripolyphosphatase, are regulated parallel with alkaline phosphatase by exogenous Pi. The present investigation showed that the investigated enzymes, not being components of the same metabolic pathway but having similar functions in the cell related with the obtainment of Pi in the case of its shortage in the medium, can have common regulator genes and thereby compose a regulon.
