Carbon 13 nmr evidence for 3 slowly inter converting conformations of the di hydro folate reductase nadp folate complex

The 3-carboxamido-13C resonance of NADP+ in its complex with Lactobacillus casei dihydrofolate reductase and folate was studied as a function of pH. At low pH a single resonance is observed, while at high pH 2 resonances are observed, neither of which has the same chemical shift as that seen at low pH. The rates of interconversion between the 3 states of the complex represented by these resonances are < 19 s-1 at C.
