Celiac disease splenic function and malignancy

Celiac disease splenic function and malignancy

Gut 23(8): 666-669

Blood films from 41 cases of celiac disease complicated by malignancy were examined, and evidence of hyposplenism was found in 12 cases (29%). This is similar to the proportion of adult celiacs without malignancy who have hyposplenism. Impaired splenic function is apparently not associated with the development of malignancy in celiac disease.
