, : Changes of the vascular plant flora and vegetation in a protected danish mire maglemose 1913 1979. Botanisk Tidsskrift 75(1): 77-88

The flora and vegetation of vascular plants in a protected Danish mire were studied in 1979 and compared with the results of corresponding investigations in 1913, 1925 and 1935. In 1913 the flora comprised 38 spp. and in 1979 there were 58 spp. Seven species were not found again in 1979, while 27 spp. were found for the 1st time in 1979. The increasing growth of Betula and Picea abies in the mire caused a change in the frequency of the vascular plants of the field layer. From 1935-1979, only the frequency of Vaccinium myrtillus increased, while Andromeda polifolia, Calluna vulgaris, Empetrum nigrum, Eriophorum vaginatum, Oxycoccus quadripetalus, Rubus chamaemorus, V. myrtillus and V. uliginosum became less frequent. Preliminary observations on the population structure of P. abies and Betula indicate that the tree vegetation and the field layer has not reached a state of equilibrium.
