Twenty-two genotypes of groundnut were evaluated and a substantial amount of genetic variability was observed for yield, yield components and oil content. Pod yield had significant positive association with number of pods, primary branches, days to maturity and 100-kernel weight. The direct and indirect effects obtained from path analysis revealed that pod yield was positively associated with number of pods, days to maturity, primary branches, 100-kernel weight owing to direct effect. In general, oil content was noticed to have negative direct as well as indirect effect on pod yield. Data indicate that a model plant type should have more number of pods, primary branches, 100 kernel weight and medium to late in maturity.
