Chemical control of pterochloroides persicae a sporadic pest of peach prunus persica and almond prunus amygdalus in punjab india

In March 1978 the peach stem aphid, P. persicae (Cholod.), was recorded as a sporadic pest of both ornamental and commercial varieties of peach (Prunus persica Batsch) at the college orchard, Ludhiana, of the Punjab Agricultural University and on almond (P. amygdalus Batsch) at Karimpura, Jullundur. The severely infested peach trees born no fruit. Although the aphids were active on infested trees, their spread to neighboring trees was poor, and usually only a few of the trees were infested in the orchards. Of the 7 insecticides tried for control, malathion and phosalone were the most promising.
