Chemical control of razor grass seed paspalum virgatum in permanent grasslands

Cuban Journal of Agricultural Science 20(3): 293-300

The chemical control of razorgrass in three different glasslands was studied in random block designs with 4 replications. In the 1st, 2nd and 3rd experiment the razorgrass infestation was 57, 24 and 48% respectively. The treatments were: Dalapon, Diuron TCA and Atrazine applied twice in the cides and Ioxinil applied once in experiments 2 and 3. Dalapon (10 kg/ha) first experiment and a mixture of Dalapon with each one of the other herbigave the best weed control (84%) followed by TCA (57%) while the mixture of Dalapon plus Atrazine controlled 97% and 100% of the razorgrass. The pastures were not considerably damaged. It is concluded that the postemergent application of a mixture of Dalapon (10 kg/ha) plus Atrazine (3 kg/ha) offers an adequate control razorgrass in the grasslands.
