Cholin esterases acetyl cholin esterase ec 3.1.1.7 and pseudo cholin esterase ec 3.1.1.8 in human amniotic fluid

In 41 cases, the cholinesterase activity of human amniotic fluid, free from blood was on the average 0.10 microkatal, approximatively 300 times weaker than mother's serum. In this total cholinesterase, a large amount (about 40%) of acetylcholinesterase [EC 3.1.1.7] was found. Amniotic cholinesterases had a prominent placental origin, activity probably proceeded from cellular elements.
