Clinical studies of esophageal candidiasis at the department of otolaryngology with endoscopic findings

Clinical studies of esophageal candidiasis at the department of otolaryngology with endoscopic findings

Journal of Tokyo Women's Medical College 55(2): 211-215

Gastrointestinal fiberoscope and nasopharyngolaryngo-fiberoscope were used as the esophagofiberoscope in this study. Esophageal candidiasis was found by examinations with esophageal endoscopy in a 65 yr old male patient, who visited the hospital for odynophagia, in a 55 yr old male patient, for difficulty of swallowing and in a 84 yr old male patient for hoarseness and sore throat. Endoscopic examinations are necessary for the diagnosis of the esophageal candidiasis. White to yellowish white attachments showing as plaque or pseudomembrane, hyperemia and erosion of esophageal mucosa are demonstrated as the endoscopic findings.
