The authors discuss the use of beta-mimetic and alfa-mimetic drugs in the treatment of threatened miscarriage and/or premature labor, giving a report on 260 patients treated over the period 1973-1983. The investigation showed that where beta-mimetics present no side-effects, therapeutic success was achieved in around 86% of the cases treated. In tachicardizing cardiopathies and in all conditions characterized by glucidic metabolism, which constituted a contra-indication in the use of beta-mimetics, alfa-mimetics were tested with success.
