Abstract
Two colpo-urethrocystographic examinations were applied to each of 12 patients with functional urinary incontinence and to 1 continent woman. A ball chain and a wick were used for urethral marking. The purpose was the identification of any effects caused by metallic foreign bodies on the physiological parameters of the urethra and urethrovesical donation. The findings obtained from the 2 techniques were clearly different. Greater details and diagnostic information were obtained by the wick technique. The 2 techniques yielded differentiated data of posterior urethrovesical and pubourethral angles. Examinations were undertaken in 2 hospitals on a rotational basis; the reproducibility and the comparability of findings obtained by different examiners were studied. Such an approach is essential to assess these methods.
