The present paper analysis the therapeutical results obtained in a stationary unit in the treatment of gastroduodenal ulcer by classical methods (antiacids + mucoprotectors + anticholinergic associated in gastric ulcer with glucose washings) or by Ulcosilvanil. The study included 290 patients of whom 139 treated classically and 151 by Ulcosilvanil. The cost of the classical treatment was about 50% cheaper than the Ulcosilvanil treatment. Intolerance to Ulcosilvanil were present in 30% of patients, but were always reversible and benign; however, the treatment had to be interrupted in 7.9% of cases. The interval within which the patients passed over the painful episode occurred at the same rate with both treatments. Cicatrization of the ulcerous lesion was obtained in 80% with the classical treatment and in 82% with Ulcosilvanil in gastric ulcer, and 92% and 95% respectively in duodenal ulcer (checked after 20-25 days).
