Anilide and 2',6'-diethylanilide of isodehydroacetic acid were prepared and tested for antifungal activity against a great number of fungi, comparatively with the fungicides 2-methyl-benzanilide and 2-iodobenzanilide [A]. 2-Iodobenzanilide [B] was specifically active against Ustilago maydis, while its 2-methyl analog against Botrytis allii and B. cinerea. Anilides of dehydroacetic acid possess an overall antifungal activity similar to that of compounds A and B but no specific activity against any of the tested fungi was observed.
