Computation of the average inspiratory and expiratory airway resistance

Computation of the average inspiratory and expiratory airway resistance

Respiration 37(1): 15-22

The mathematical model of Jaeger and Otis is extended to a separate computation of the mean airway resistance in the inspiratory and expiratory phase. The extended method is illustrated and compared to known methods by data on 12 healthy subjects and 12 patients with obstructive airway diseases.
