A positive correlation exists between total and commercial productivity in F2 hybrids of G. hirsutum L. and G. barbadense L. The coefficients of correlation in the individual hybrid combinations vary from +0.590 to +0.924 for the early group and +0,347 to +0.731 for the moderately early group. The correlation between the two characters is higher in the early group (high to very high) and lower in the second group (medium to high). The performance of commercial productivity in relation with the total productivity is 34.8-85.5% in the early group and 12.0-53.4% in the moderately early group of cultivators. This high positive correlation between total and commercial productivity allows effective selection for both characters and future breeding programs, aiming to develop early, highly productive forms seem reliable.
