Dependence of heat resistance on temperature changes and duration of acclimation in hydra oligactis

The pattern of heat resistance changes in H. oligactis Pall., as dependent on the acclimation temperature fluctuations (3.degree.-28.degree. C) and the acclimation duration (from 1-26 days), were studied on genetically uniform (clonal) material. Hydrae undergoing acclimation to high temperatures (25.degree.-28.degree. C) and to moderate ones (10.degree.-15.degree. C) develop heat resistance after 4 days. Evidence for the completion of different acclimation stages is discussed.
