Two Phyllobates tadpoles, P. femoralis and P. pictus, are described. The tadpoles were borne on the backs of males. The P. femoralis tadpole's thick skin, very flattened body, dorsal eyes, very muscular tail and reduced fins are adapted to life on the adult back or confined aquatic life. The P. pictus tadpole is less altered.
