A female (only sex known) cyclopoid copepod, Cotylemyzon vervoorti gen. et sp. nov., is described and provisionally assigned to the line of the Eunicicolidae, Catiniidae. A prominent character is the presence of a sucker on the posterior antenna. The copepod was found as an ectoparasite on a polychaete worm, Eupolyodontes amboinensis, from a depth of 40 m near Ambon (Amboina, Moluccas, Indonesia). The taxonomic status, on suborder level (Poecilostomatoidea vs. Siphonostomatoidea), of this very curious parasite is discussed.
