A description is given of the development by collaborative study of a standardized method for the determination of copper, iron and nickel in edible oils and fats by direct graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry. The procedure is both rapid and sensitive allowing determination at levels of 0.005 to 0.20 mg/kg for copper and 0.01-1.00 mg/kg for iron and nickel.
