Utilizing an androstenedione derivative coupled to albumin through the 6 position, an antiserum was produced that presented high affinity, high titer and good specificity. Two preparative methods were compared: 1 included a chromatography in celite columns and another included only an isooctane extraction. The methods were equivalent according to the data. Utilizing this simple method, normal values were defined for adult populations of both sexes and also for prepuberal children. The values obtained in untreated patients with the 21-hydroxylase defect were also studied.
