Development of streptophyllopsis kuroshioensis phaeophyta laminariaceae in culture

Memoirs of the Faculty of Science Shimane University 17: 71-80

The development of a deep-sea Laminariaceous alga, S. kuroshioensis, in culture fundamentally agrees with those of other species in this order except Chorda filum, in which the sporophyte has sterile hairs. The evidence that the development of gametophytes and young sporophytes of the alga occur in nature during winter to early spring is described.
