Development of the thyroid metabolism of radio iodide during metamorphosis in 2 species of xenopus xenopus laevis laevis and xenopus clivii

The metabolism of the thyroid radioiodine was analyzed by electrophoretic and chromatographic separations after 24 h of 125I incorporation in X. laevis laevis and X. clivii. The value of the thyroid uptake and its increase at metamorphic climax was similar in both species. The ratio of MIT[radioactive monoiodotyrosine]/DIT [radioactive diiodotyrosine] and T4[thyroxine]/(DIT + MIT) are also similar.
