Devonian primitiopsidae ostracoda from spain and their morphological connections

Devonian primitiopsidae ostracoda from spain and their morphological connections

Senckenbergiana Lethaea 64(2-4): 267-294

A morpho-functional conception with emphasis on the perimarginal structure is given for the ostracod family Primitiopsidae Swartz 1936. Within 5 primitiopsid genera, 7 spp. and sspp. are described from the Upper Emsian and lowermost Eifelian of the Cantabrian Mountains (northern Spain). A new genus is RHIZAGRAVIA with the type species R. xixionensis sp. nov. Other new taxa include: Guerichiella proavia, G. septentrionensis hispaniensis, Clavofabellina prisca and Triglavus obtusus. The following species are presented under open nomenclature: G. septentrionensis, G. s. septentrionensis, Bodzentia sulcata, B. solitaris and B. s. solitaris.
