Differences in the ultrastructure of the colored variants of colonies of pathogenic neisseria
Electron-transparent zones (vacuoles) of different size and localization have been detected in the cytoplasm of meningococci forming orange colonies. These vacuoles have been detected in cells from meningococcal cultures of different age, grown both in liquid and solid culture media. This phenomenon requires further deeper study.
