Abstract
Field experiments were conducted at Upper Shillong (1800 m above msl ) in the state of Meghalaya to study the direct and residual values of lime on the yield and uptake of nutrients by maize. Application of lime equivalent to 25% of lime requirement gave appreciable direct and residual effect on the grain yield and neutralized exchangeable Al. Liming augmented the uptake of P and Ca.
