Field experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of rates of N (50, 100 and 150 kg/ha) and their methods of application (soil and 3/4 soil 1/4th foliar) under varying soil moisture regimes (0.25, 0.63 and 1.60 bar tension) to wheat (Triticum aestivum L. cv. Kalyan Sona) grown on a sandy loam soil during the winter (rabi) seasons of 1971-1972 and 1972-1973. Dry matter accumulation increased with liberal water supply and with 100 kg N/ha. The removal of N was higher with liberal water supply, with increasing rates of N and with the application of N partly through foliage.
