Abstract
Between 1968 and 1978, 38 colonies of Podiceps nigricollis on Lake Felchow, district of Angermuende East Germany with 3-65 breeding pairs (on the average, 16.9 pairs/yr) were investigated and analyzed with regard to site preference, duration and form of settlement. Observation, banding and color marking, showed that the number of annual broods depends upon the date of arrival of the population. There can be up to 3 supplementary clutches; 92 individuals were measured biometrically.
