Abstract
The change of leaves takes place faster in polyploid forms of sugar beets than in diploids. Triploid hybrids of the beets exceed the diploid varieties in the leaf area under drought and irrigation conditions. Different triploid hybrids of sugar beets respond differently to the conditions of growing. Under drought conditions polyhybrids of mangel 'Timiryazevsky 12' and 'Timiryazevsky 56' exceeded considerably the diploid varieties in the yield of dry matter per hectare.
