Effect of ethephon 2 chloroethyl phosphonic acid on endogenous levels of auxins inhibitors and cyto kinins in relation to senescence and abscission in vicia faba

Ethephon reduced vegetative growth and enhanced abscission of leaves, flowers and immature pods. No clear pattern emerged of changes in the levels of endogenous auxin and inhibitors as a result of treatment with the growth regulator. Cytokinin levels in leaves of treated plants were much higher than in the controls, but no changes occurred in stem tissue.
