Effect of fertilizer application on the uptake and balance of nitrogen phosphorus and potassium on the oriental tobacco cultivar krumovgrad 90

An investigation was carried out in 1982-1984 concerning fertilizer application to the most widely distributed in East Rhodopa Mountain [Bulgaria] tobacco production oriental type tobacco cv. Krumovgrad 90. The aim of the investigation was to assess the biological uptake and the balance of nutrient elements in fields where this tobacco type was grown. The biological uptrake of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium by the organs of oriental type tobacco varied, depending on the size and structure of yield, the percentage involvement of the elements in the plant organs and the applied fertilizers. In all treatments tested the quantities of nitrogen and potassium taken up from the soil were larger than the quantities applied.
