Effect of fodder on the biochemical composition of blood and meat quality of young bulls

Higher residual N and urea concentrations in the blood of the calves fed with the grass from the N360-480P90-120K180-240-fertilized meadows were found, which is a sign of the disturbed N metabolism in the animals. Nitrate N of 4.1 g/100 g live mass taken with the food does not result in methemoglobinemia. Substitution of a carbohydrate-containing food mixture for the standard one normalizes the metabolism processes. The meat quality is insensitive to the mineral fertilizer level of grass and the food mixture types.
