Effect of foeniculum vulgare seed extracts on cervix and vagina of ovariectomized rats

Acetone extract of E. vulgare, Mill (fennel) seeds at 50, 150 and 250 .mu.g doses/100g body wt/day for 10 days respectively led to a significant increase in the organ weights, nucleic acids and protein concentrations in the cervix and vagina of castrated rats. The medium and high doses were very effective. All the biochemical parameters studied showed values similar to that of the intact cycling estrus rats, suggesting the anabolic nature as well as the effect of the seed extract on cervix and vagina.
