Effect of food on the bioavailability of nitrofurantoin products marketed in india

, : Effect of food on the bioavailability of nitrofurantoin products marketed in india. Indian Drugs 21(11): 489-494

Bioavailability of 5 different nitrofurantoin [an antibacterial drug] formulations marketed in India was studied in a single dose, complete crossover study in 6 healthy male volunteers by evaluating unchanged durg excreted in urine at various intervals. Two separate crossover studies were carried out, one with food and another without food. Statistically significant differences were observed both in the rates and the extent of absorption from the different products.
