Effect of girdling on berry set berry drop panicle drying and quality grapes vitis vinifera cultivar thompson seedless

Effect of girdling on berry set berry drop panicle drying and quality grapes vitis vinifera cultivar thompson seedless

Progressive Horticulture 12(3): 41-46

The effects of girdling on different parts of the vine (trunk, arm and cane) were studied. All the girdling treatments reduced panicle drying and berry drop, and improved berry set and quality in terms of increased total soluble solids, reducing sugars and reduced acidity. Berry set was increased by 300%. Overall, trunk girdling apparently was the best.
