Effect of growth regulators and nitrogen on yield yield components and grain quality of rice

An experiment was conducted at the Agricultural Engineering Department, I.I.T., Kharagpur [India], during the wet season of 1981 to determine the action of suitable chemical agent to trigger mobilization of photosynthates in raising the level of grain yield production in situations where light intensity becomes limiting as in wet season. The influence of growth regulating substances viz., gibberellic acid (GA), penicillin (Pn) and their combination (GA + Pn) on the yield response of paddy to nitrogen applied at heading was studied through grain yield components and quality of grain. The crop response to added nitrogen at heading increased with GA, Pn and GA + Pn concentrations at 20 ppm and showed a positive correlation with nitrogen level.
