Effect of mineral components of the medium on the growth and chemical composition of methanol assimilating yeast
The growth rate and chemical composition of methanol-assimilating yeast, Candida boidinii, were studied under chemostat cultivation as affected by different mineral components. The studied sources of P and N, with the exception of potassium nitrate, have no effect on the maximum growth rate and economic factor. The content of crude protein, true protein, RNA and polysaccharides in the yeast biomass is determined by the rate of the medium dilution and by the nature of the limiting factor.
